KDL DISABLEMENT TORPEDO WARHEAD

Name:

KDL Disablement Torpedo Warhead

Rationale for Design:

Due to the nature of the KDL vessels hull thickness, a torpedo was needed that would render the crew rather than the ship inoperative.

How the System Works:

Following the premise that the KDL are truly lizard like that is cold blooded. The warhead was designed to emit a charge of extreme cold temperature during impact to the effected area after a hull breach has been attained. To accomplish this, pinpoint accuracy was needed to ensure the possibility of a breach would occur. Simulations determined that a breach would occur with 85% accuracy with the use of 3 torpedoes and repeated phaser fire if the VR targeting system was used. After discharge, a series of modified nanotechs are released that attacks the ships life support system causes the internal temperature to be greatly reduced

Strengths:

This results in the KDL (like lizards) being rendered into a state of hibernation without the loss of life

Limitations:

Warhead must be calibrated before each use requiring personnel to be present when in use
